21 June 2013 / Categories: News Philanthropy Project in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico The Objective of this project from the IC of Mexico is to help improve the mental and physical health of underpriviledged children through tennis clinics. The main target for these clinics are public school children from 6 to 16 years old. We selected the city of Leon, Guanajuato in center Mexico as a pilot for this Project. 60% of its population is less than 30 years old and 50% lives in poverty conditions. You can read more detail about the original project here in English and here in Spanish. The funding for this Project has come so far 50% from the IC of GB and 50% from local (Mexican) sources. The Project has been succesful. It started in 2011 and has been going for 2 years now. We plan to restart it in August 2013 for the second semester of the year. We started with 40 children and we grew 50% to 60 children in the second half of 2012. Here is a video about our Project and other similar projects supported by the IC Council. Many thanks to the IC Council, to the IC of GB and to the Mexican entities and individuals who have contributed to make this project a reality. In order to continue and grow it, we need continuos funding to keep the Project alive. If anyone would like to contribute to this Project for underpriviledged children in Mexico, please contact mexico.ic@gmail.com for further information. Thank you. Print 3469
