Bahamas host USA

Over three days from 9th -12th February a group of 10 tennis players from The IC of the USA visited The IC of The Bahamas with the emphasis on the  IC motto of "Hands across the net, friendship across the ocean".  At a social evening during this weekend at the home of Kit & Lesley Spencer, our  Bahamas IC founder Barrie Farrington arrived with a forgotten trophy originally presented by USA IC legend Gene Scott  - "The S. Lytton Scott Trophy" .   This had originally been played for between The Bahamas and The USA but had not been contested for many years. As there had been matches that day between the two IC's it was decided on the spot to resurrect the trophy and present it to The Bahamas who had won the matches that day by 5-4. it should perhaps be mentioned that at the time no-one realised that we might be playing for a trophy!  It was also decided that this event should now be continued in to the future on an annual basis.

During their visit the USA group stayed at homes of Bahamas IC members. As well as three days of tennis there was much socialising including some dancing to a local "Rake and scrape band".  The weekend was a great success and both countries agreed unanimously to continue this as an annual exchange with the Bahamas now looking forward to visiting the USA next time."
