Argentina win the South American IC Junior Challenge

At a great weekend in Buenos Aires it was Chile, Uruguay and Argentina who battled to be the first IC Junior team team to qualify for The Compass Worldwide IC Finals in Monte Carlo next year. It was Argentina who emerged as the winner with Uruguay taking second place over Chile.

Along with the Challenge a memorable clinic was held for disadvantaged children. This was with the participation of players in the event, plus distinguished Argentine former circuit players (all members of the IC) such as Gabriela Sabatini (former US Open Champion), Juan Ignacio Chela (recently retired circuit and Davis Cup player), Julian Ganzabal (former Argentina’s #1), and Gustavo Luza (former circuit player and Davis Cup Captain).

At the same time friendly matches were also held between older players from the three IC countries making it a great overall IC weekend in Argentina.

Congratulations to the juniors from Argentina. We look forward to seeing them in Monte Carlo and also congratulations to Guillermina Grant (Uruguay) and Patricio Gómez (Chile) who were awarded the respective Sportsmanship Awards and for playing in the spirit of "Hands across the net, friendship across the ocean".

Well done Argentina for winning the South American Challenge and for hosting a great overall IC weekend.
