May 2011 IC European and South American Junior Challenges Congratulations to the German and Argentinian IC Junior teams on winning the Compass European and the S America IC Junior Challenges respectively and therefore qualifying for the finals in Adelaide in Jan 2012 The IC South American Challenge 2011 took place at the Carrasco Lawn Tennis Club in Montevideo, Uruguay. Argentina beat Uruguay 6-0 to qualify for the world finals in Adelaide, Australia, in January 2012. The Uruguayan IC proved as always to be excellent hosts thanks to the efforts of Julio Lacarte (President) and Hugo Altomirano (Vice-President). The trophies were handed out during the dinner after the match by Sr. Marturet, President of the Uruguayan Tennis Association. The event was well reported in the Uruguayan press. The Compass IC European Junior Challenge was held at the Sever Dron tennis academy in Bucharest, Romania from 9 to 15 May 2011. The ICs of Great Britain, Germany, Luxembourg and Romania played in a round robin event, in which GB and Germany finished with the same number of points. A champions’ tiebreak was played in the deciding mixed doubles with Germany emerging victorious. They will represent Europe in the IC Junior Challenge Finals in Adelaide, Australia, in January 2012. The matches were played in a competitive spirit and with top quality sportsmanship. At the beginning of the event a successful kids’ clinic was held.
