Crabel Masters IC Challenge

Crabel Master IC Challenge

Location: Mission Hills Country Club

9th - 13th March 2018

The inaugural Crabel Masters IC Challenge was held on March 9 – 13 2018, in Palm Springs California. Instigated and organised by former IC of USA

President Dan Waldman, and hosted by Crabel Captial, thanks to their CFO, Tony Crabel, the top male players in the world in the 60 and over category were invited to participate in an IC of USA vs. Rest of the World fixture.

The event brought together players who combined had won over 30 ITF Senior individual and team world titles, and was played on the beautiful grass courts of the Mission Hills Country Club. For the US, Mark Vines and Mike Tammen were invited along with Toby Crabel and Danny Waldman.  From the "Rest of the World" Norbert Henn (IC of Germany), Glenn Busby (IC of Australia) Paul French and Stephen Alger (both IC of Great Britain) received invitations.

In total, 16 singles matches (each against each) and two doubles matches were played. While there were numerous three setters, the World team triumphed decisively over the U.S. winning 12 of the 16 matches. Norbert Henn of Germany went undefeated, while Glenn Busby of Australia and Steve Alger of Great Britain lost only once.

The players and IC guests from around the world also had the pleasure of watching the pros play at the BNP Paribas Indian Wells tournament.  The week was a huge success and a great initiative from Dan Waldman. We hope to see it expand in future years but many thanks must go to the host and sponsor Tony Crabel, and his company Crabel Capital for a great week of tennis.
