La Carreta 2014
The German IC staged La Carreta trophy from 5th-8thSeptember in Heidelberg. Four IC teams took part- France Germany, Belgium and Great Britain. The event was played on a round-robin basis and despite GB losing to France on the first day, they won the event, which was only decided after the last ball of the weekend was hit. Read more...

The Bahamas IC Doubles Week: January 11th-17th, 2015
The Bahamas is now able to accommodate a new country team in this popular event and is also considering putting together an “International IC team” to be made up of IC members whose country is unable to make up a full team. This means that individual IC members can be considered even if their IC is not entering a team.

Details of the event are on the Bahamas section of the IC website. Anyone interested can contact Kit Spencer (kitspencer@hotmail.com ) for more information or to ask about participating. Read more...

Final round up - IC U16 Junior Challenge Worldwide Finals
Welcome to the final round-up from the 5th day of IC U16 Junior Challenge Worldwide Finals at The All England Lawn Tennis Club. Tied 3-3 after the singles, the USA had to forfeit the mixed doubles play-off match and consequently lost to Argentina 4-3 thus ending their unbeaten run; Great Britain beat Japan 6-0; and Italy beat South Africa 5 – 1. The USA had already clinched the title on Day 4, but there was a three way play-off for second place as Argentina, Great Britain and Italy all finished the week with 3 wins each. Tennis Clinic Kickstarts IC U16 Junior Challenge World Finals
The 2014 IC U16 Junior Challenge Worldwide Finals kicked off with a clinic for local state primary school children yesterday. In glorious sunshine the clinic was run by Dan Bloxham, the Head Coach at The AELTC, and Barry Cowan a former professional player and currently a TV commentator for Sky Sports.
The match results will be available daily on the IC of GB website - accessible via the striped flags to the right of the page.

IC Council remembers Athol Tills

Athol Tills passed away on Thursday 3 July after a long illness. Athol was at the inaugural meeting of the IC Club of New Zealand in 1956. He was heavily involved as a committee member, president, and represented Australia and New Zealand on the IC World Council.

Tributes have been coming in from IC clubs from around the world. Athol was a good man, a quiet achiever and a very good friend. He will be sadly missed. Read more...

IC Bahamas announces IC Doubles Week: Jan 11th-17th, 2015
IC Bahamas is repeating its popular IC Doubles Week for the third time. This is for eight country teams of men and women from Sunday 11th - Saturday 17th January 2015. It is a round robin format of mens, ladies and mixed doubles in ages from 40+ to 65+ . As well as a good competitive week it is also an enjoyable week of winter sunshine and entertainment for any supporters who come along with other activities available including golf. Read more...

2014 Potter Cup combines tennis with philanthropy
The Potter Cup kicked off on Thursday May 29 with a tennis clinic for children with learning disabilities. Throughout the year, this programme is supported by the IC Council Philanthropy programme, with training usually delivered by Sergi Bruguera. On this occasion, players from IC Ireland, IC USA and IC France joined in to support this unique opportunity for these children to enjoy their game at the Real Club de Polo. Read more...

Marion Bartoli named Member of Honour by IC France at the annual Roland Garros cocktail party
The French Tennis Federation and the IC of France organize a cocktail party each year in honour of the IC members. More than 21 ICs were represented this year and over 250 people attended - making it a real success. At the same occasion we saw Marion Bartoli, the 2013 Wimbledon Champion, receive her IC pink & grey scarf acknowledging her membership into the French IC. Italy wins 6th Potter Cup Title

IC Italy has won the 42nd edition of the Potter Cup following a decisive 4-1 victory over France on the final day of the competition. The Italian team was led by world senior champion Enrico Casadei, who oversaw victories over Great Britain and defending champions Spain en route to the final. The win marks the sixth time that Italy has claimed the prestigious trophy, and first since 2010. Read more...

IC Week 2014 in Mexico: ICs of  Italy and France end as winners
With 170 people attending - 120 players and 50 companions, the 2014 IC Week in Mexico City was a great celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the IC of Mexico. Italy and France were the big winners, with IC Italy taking the Windmill and the Mercelis trophies, and IC France taking the Columbus and the Juego de Pelota tournaments. Read more ...

XLII Potter Cup now underway
The 2014 Potter Cup is underway this week. 
The tournament will be staged at the RC Polo Barcelona from 29th May – 1st June, and is supported by the Catalan Tennis Federation, the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899 and Barcelona City Council. The social program will include an exhibition of tennis for players with learning disabilities from the Acell Federation, and dinners at the RC Polo and RCTB-1899. Read more...

Thierry Grin: New President of IC Switzerland

After many years of commitment as Honorary Secretary, then as President of IC Switzerland, Jurgen Buttkus is stepping down. His successor, Thierry Grin, former 1992 Davis Cup team member and former pro on the ATP tour has been elected at the General Assembly held at Swiss Tennis in Biel on March 1, 2014.

At the same assembly, Michèle Miéville-Blondel (Honorary Secretary) and Sandro Della Piana (new Committee member) were also elected. Read more...

IC of Great Britain to host the IC U16 Junior Challenge Worldwide Finals on the Championship courts at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in July.

Open to all 40 ICs around the world, the U16 Junior Challenge is the IC Council’s premier junior event.

USA WINS THE NORTH AMERICAN IC JUNIOR CHALLENGE
After an exciting final match with Mexico the USA has emerged as the winner of  the last regional IC junior challenge held in The Bahamas.

5 ICs participated in a wonderful tennis and golf week in Cyprus from 3 until 9 November: Denmark, South Africa, Luxembourg, Great Britain and Germany.

Fantastic late summer weather, an excellent 5 star hotel resort (Intercontinental Aphrodite Hills), superb cuisine, a spectacular golf course, a careful organisation (by Alex Kurucz, president of IC Germany) and an atmosphere of great friendship were the general conditions of a successful event. The IC Junior Challenge in Tokyo proved to be extremely exciting and fruitful. The match up between Pakistan and Singapore came down to the last mixed doubles with Japanese girls on Team Pakistan winning both of the their singles matches as well as the doubles. The match up between Australia and Japan proved to be just as exciting if not more. After some intense moments, they were tied at 3-3 and went into a mixed doubles 10 point tie breaker. Both teams had match points but in the end Team Japan prevailed. Read more...

Inaugural IC of Chile event - Juniors of Argentina edge out Chile to win IC South American Junior Challenge
Argentina defeated Chile to win the IC Junior Challenge South America after they both  won their first match against Uruguay. The tournament was held in “Club de Golf Valle Escondido” in Santiago, Chile, watched by an attentive audience. In the finals, Argentina won the deciding rubber on a championship tiebreak 10-8, thus qualifying to “The IC World-wide Finals” at Wimbledon 2014.

The tournament was sponsored by the Chilean Tennis Federation, Grupo Fillol, OB Group, K-Express, Fire Stop Systems, Dunlop, Inmobiliaria Quecall, PrendeLED y British Chilean Chamber of Commerce and the IC Council. Read more...

Eichi Kawatei
It is with great sorrow that we report the news that Eiichi Kawatei of Japan passed away on Saturday, August 3rd at the age of 79. He had dedicated himself to the development of tennis in Japan, Asia and the world for the past 40 years. In doing so he served in various capacities with the ITF including, as a member of the Board of Directors of the ITF and Chairman of the Juniors Committee. Read more...

Brad Drewett
It is with much sadness that the IC of Australia notes the passing of our esteemed member Brad Drewett.

Brad was a fine player, world class tennis administrator and a loving family man.

He was a real gentleman who embodied the spirit of the IC through his love of tennis and the friendships therein.

He will be greatly missed in Australia, and indeed in the entire global tennis community, where his contribution has been enormous.

After three wins for The Bahamas against Barbados, Austria and The “International” team The USA proved too strong for The Bahamas in the final days play off for first place overcoming them by three matches to two.

IC Luxembourg Cup
The US team was back in action the weekend after the IC event in Frankfurt competing for the Luxembourg Cup hostedby the Spora Tennis club. The other IC nations were Mexico and Belgium. The weekend consisted of two full days of tennis plus one additional day of sight seeing.

IC Germany organized the 3rd issue of its IC Nations Trophy end of September 2012 in Bad Vilbel, the home town of this year´s sponsor Rosbacher (a leading mineral water brand). IC teams from GB, USA , Luxembourg and Germany played a round robin tournament.

The newly founded IC of Chile has organised its first get together with a well attended lunch on the 15th of August 2012. The President of the new Club, Jaime Fillol, opened the session and after thanking everyone for their presence he explained the origin of the worldwide IC family and of the IC of Chile in particular.

Franz Feldbausch served as president of the IC of Germany from 1978 until 2007. He furthermore was vice-president of the German Tennis Federation and member of the ITF Juniors Committee.

At its AGM in Copenhagen last week, the ITF signed memorandums of understanding with two of its recognised organisations, the Council of International Clubs, and Association of Centenary Tennis Clubs. The ITF will look to increase its support of both organisations on their worldwide development activities.

The IC of Germany has last year set up a tennis school in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, which is regularly attended by between 60 and 80 kids from poor neighbourhoods.

Potter Cup 2011

Michiel Schapers is the new President of the Dutch IC
After an active and very successful period as President of the Dutch IC Mark Koevermans has relinquished his responsibilities. He has been awarded honorary membership of the Dutch IC. The new President is Michiel Schapers who has been no. 1 in The Netherlands from 1982 to 1988 and got to number 25 in the ATP world rankings. We wish him lots of success. More >>

The finals of the Junior Challenge event of the Council of International Clubs (ICs) sponsored by Airtel and DP World of India and the Compass Group have just finished in New Delhi with the team of the IC of Great Britain being victorious over Germany in a hotly contested tie.
