IC WEEK

Is a week in which a “WINDMILL TROPHY”, is played, with at least 16 different ICs participating and a "MERCELIS TROPHY" with at least 8 different ICs participating.

During an IC Week the hosting IC has the possibility to organize other team competitions recognised by the E.C. of ICs


DEFINITIONS OF THE RECOGNISED IC COMPETITIONS 


(i) WINDMILL TROPHY

is a men’s competition for teams composed of

2 men players over 45

2 men players under 45

1 playing or non playing captain

with the following format:

2 singles and 1 doubles over 45

2 singles and 1 doubles under 45



(ii) MERCELIS TROPHY

is a ladies' competition for teams composed of

1 lady player over 40

1 lady player under 40

1 playing or non playing captain with the following format:

1 single over 40

1 single under 40

1 double played by 2 ladies, 1 of which must be over 40



(iii) COLUMBUS TROPHY

is a men's competition for teams composed of

2 men players over 55

2 men players over 65

1 playing or non playing captain

with the following format:

2 singles and 1 doubles over 55

2 singles and 1 doubles over 65



(iv) LA CARRETA

is a ladies' competition for team composed of

1 lady over 50
1 lady over 60
1 playing or non playing captain

With the following format:
1 single in each age group and the pair formed by the 50/60 players



(v) POTTER CUP

is a men's competition, held annually in Barcelona, organized by the IC of Spain and fostered by the Catalunian Tennis Federation and the Municipality of Barcelona for teams composed of a maximum of 9 players, with the following format:

5 singles over 45

2 doubles over 45



(vi) THE ROBERT ABDESSELAM TROPHY

is a “Round Robin” competition, organized every two years by one of the ICs which funded the “ROBERT ABDESSELAM” foundation, i.e. IC of France, IC of Spain, IC of Belgium and played by these 3 ICs plus an invited IC.

Teams will be composed of

1 man over 55

1 man over 65

1 lady over 50

1 lady over 55

with the following format:

1 men's doubles

1 ladies doubles

2 mixed doubles



(vii) THE JUNIOR CHALLENGE

is a 16 and under competition for teams composed of

2 boys 16 and under

2 girls 16 and under

Plus an adult Captain

with the following format:

2 singles and 1 boys doubles 16 and under

2 singles and 1 girls doubles 16 and under

With a mixed doubles champion’s tie break to decide all drawn ties and matches


Golf and Tennis Challenge

Having staged a Council initiated team event for tennis and golf for three years in Majorca, negotiations are now proceeding to try to establish a venue at La Manga, Spain instead, starting with the competition in 2011. Details will follow in due course.
